The Monster in The Mirror

In a small town there stood an old house which had been vacant for many years. No one in town could even remember a time when someone had lived there. No one knew why that was, but of course the neighborhood children made up stories to explain the reason no one had ever moved in there. Some people claimed it was haunted, others said that there was some kind of curse on the house. Many tall tales were spread about the old house, but no one knew for sure why it had been empty all these years.

One night two young boys named Tyler and Jack decided to break into the old house to see what was inside. Upstairs they found nothing but dust and worn-out furniture, so they decided to explore the basement. Down there they discovered the most peculiar of items. They discovered jewellery from ancient times and old chests and jewels and urns and other such artifacts. As Tyler and Jack observed the artifacts Tyler opened a wooden chest to discover a golden hand mirror laying inside.

On the back of the mirror was the imprint of a skull with rubies for eyes. Tyler took the mirror out of the chest and held it in his hand, his image reflected in the mirror’s glass. Suddenly staring at Tyler in the mirror was not himself, but instead a hideous monster with two beady eyes glowing red. He possessed enormous muscles with a pair of sharp claws on his hands and a long mouth like that of an alligator’s filled with yellow jagged teeth and a long pointed tongue. In shock Tyler dropped the mirror to the floor.

Tyler ran out of the old house screaming while Jack followed behind him. Tyler and Jack returned home that night not giving a second thought as to what had occurred in the basement. While Tyler was brushing his teeth in the bathroom mirror he saw a monster standing behind him, the same monster that he saw in the mirror in the basement. Tyler immediately turned around, but there was no monster standing there. Tyler turned his head back to the mirror where the monster was still reflected in it.

However the monster was not standing in the bathroom so this couldn’t have been the monster’s reflection, it was the monster itself. Inside the mirror the monster grabbed a hold of the neck of Tyler’s reflection and began to squeeze it. Even though the monster was not physically touching Tyler, he still felt an incredible tightness around his neck as if he were being suffocated. He kneeled to the ground gasping for air. Tyler tried to run, but there was some strange force holding him in that spot like an invisible rope around his neck.

Tyler fought against this mysterious force and pushed himself towards the door of the bathroom. He continued to pull while the monster pushed against the reflection of Tyler’s neck like he was reeling in a fish. With all the strength in his ten year old body Tyler broke free of the monster’s grip and ran out of the bathroom. As Tyler passed by the mirror in the hallway he saw within it the monster, staring at him. Tyler quickly took the mirror off the hook and turned it the other way. Tyler reached for his phone to call the police, but before he could access his home screen there was the monster in the black screen of the phone.

Tyler dropped his phone on the ground and ran straight to his bedroom, but in the glass of his window the monster was there too. There was nowhere to escape. Tyler had to find somewhere where the monster couldn’t hurt him. Somewhere where he wouldn’t cast a reflection. Tyler ran out of his room and into the living room, but the monster re-appeared in the glass on the TV.

Tyler ran out of the living room and into the kitchen, but the monster re-appeared again in the doors of the refrigerator. Finally Tyler ran outside to his backyard pool area. However when Tyler looked into the water of the pool sure enough the monster was inside the reflection of the water. Tyler attempted to run away, but the monster grabbed hold of Tyler’s shoulders and Tyler’s body flung itself straight into the pool as if an invisible chain had dragged him in there. The next morning Tyler’s parents found his body floating in the pool, completely lifeless with enormous scratches on his stomach drenched in blood.
