To Hamlet

To be or not to be
Son of broken marriage
Slated for big things

Too young to be philosophical
Perspective warped by passion
Reflection tainted by other’s judgements

Tries to see truly, looks too deep
Was crowned Prince, now sent to Norway
Once celebrated, to be assassinated

What strange state of mind
Mental music
Grown discordant, Father replaced
By man less sympathetic

Hamlet is us, us he
Selves made into shards
Of shame, self-mockery

Heal thyself, spare Ophelia, Polonius
Fight not the champion
Forgive, move one

Abide not in the castle, a place with no faith
Transcend tragedy,
Destiny, with choice
