When Loneliness Found Me

when loneliness found me…
as a little girl sitting on the window sill of our house
with legs dangling in the air, watching other kids go about
wondering if i get to be invited to their play
but glad i was not, did not want to play with them anyway.
when loneliness found me…
as a grade school kid, buying the food that other kids eat
they may think i am weird, copying their every feast
but who is to say i did a carbon copy of their food
that is all the school has to offer, variety for every mood.
when loneliness found me…
again at the school cafeteria, waiting for friends
or so i thought of them as that, asking me to wait for them
until the cafeteria has emptied, while i sit at the middle table
still looking out for friends that i did not see.
when loneliness found me…
as i walked down the aisle, to seal my fate to a chosen spouse
wondering if i was making the right decision
embarking on a new journey, a new mission
to be the best version of any wife there is.
when loneliness found me…
after seven years, i tried and tried only to fail in the end
the one i married turned into a monster, a foe, a friend
so packing our things and my kids with me
i started a new adventure with my small family.
that is how loneliness always finds me
slipping through peep holes and loop holes of my life
i never thought of ending it with a knife
but i know, this time i will survive.
