The Thorn Bush In The Stable

The Thorn Bush In The Stable

written by: TM Arko

There is a thorn bush in the stable
Growing in the wood
Where the Light of the World came down
To bring us love and good
The light in the eyes of an infant
In a manger
Meek and mild
The Divinity of the universe contained
In one small pure child
That thorn bush grows in darkness
Only evil ones have known
Hearts that cry in bondage
Among the thorns that they have grown
Kings came bringing gold and myrrh
Shepherds played a tune
Heard in the fields of midnight
While angels circled the moon
The stable was dis-mantled
The rough wood sold for a price
To wicked men who would use it
To build their killing device
So, the wood did travel
The thorn bush went as well
To the place known as Golgotha
Where the criminals are sentenced to hell
In the place of desolation
Where they hang the killers and the thieves
The thorn bush kept on growing
Spreading its bitter leaves
The child grew too
To become a righteous man
With forgiving power in his words
And healing in his hands
The stable he was born in
Had long since been torn down
The beams of wood built his cross
And the thorns
Became his crown
There is a thorn bush near the crosses
Where the King of Kings was slain
To break the chains of our oppression
To free us from
Death’s pain
There was a thorn bush in a stable
It grew within the wood
Where the Light of the World
Came down
To bring us love and good
Yes
The Light of the World
Came down
To bring us love and good
