One Night Stand

One Night Stand

written by: Maggie O’Brien

Iron filings to the magnet.
We were drawn to meet
in heat.
Desire made fire.
When the flames went out
False love cast doubt.
In the melting
that seduced us
the smelting reduced us
to our basest metal
Broken-hearted
we parted.
