I LET HER CRY

I LET HER CRY

She ponders looking far away,
Only memory on her face,
Innocent sight without any light,
I don’t ask why,
I let her cry.

Warm tears flow down my shoulder,
Strange comfort as the air grows colder,
Only hurt in her deep green eyes,
I don’t ask why,
I let her cry.

No more hiding in the rain,
All her sorrow just laid bare,
No shelter from my words,
I don’t ask why,
I let her cry.

Can she hear me in the silence?
I hold her in this fleeting island,
The heavens pour a heavy goodbye,
I don’t ask why,
I let her cry.

Even when she’s just a thought,
All the love seems long gone,
As the seasons pass me by,
I’ll always remember,
When I let her cry.
