Bitter Coffee

Bitter Coffee

written by: Karen Rey

swallow that
bitter coffee
and forget everything existed.

swallow that
bitter coffee
and forget life as you know it.

wake up to the smell
of coffee
and pain and remorse
and fear and regret.

wake up to the smell
of coffee
and hope that you will
perish with it.

what is the point of living
when you have died inside
and you now have to move
like an empty vessel
waiting for the world to fall apart?

pain probably likes
bitter coffee
and we are now drinking
from the same cup.

enjoy the coffee party,
because everyone in hell
can’t take the caffeine.
