Gentle Winter Ride

Gentle Winter Ride

written by: Sandra Jewell

Full moon, quiet evening
Distant mooing cows
Just enough snow to cover the ground
Up on my horse I ride
Light snow falling, like tiny fairies
Peaceful gentle snow flakes
A few stalks of corn still stand
A doe and her fawn rest in the tall grass
A big buck stands watch in the tree line
Crunch, crunch, the sound of my mare’s hooves
Snowflakes sparkling on her ears
Careful, don’t slip on the ice
A carrot waits for you back at the barn.
