My Life’s Learning

I did mind when the vicious quagmire of illusions,
Scorched the lush meadows of my heart.
I did wail when I accidentally slipped,
Into the murky, pungent-smelling pond of greed,
And lost myself by drowning in it with lightning speed.
I did scream when the gossamer of lies,
Slowly unravelled its nefarious plans to take away my innocence.
And persistently mocked my resilience,
To rescue myself from my own decadence.
I almost dutifully failed in that venture called love,
When my beloved squandered my most precious investment, my heart,
Without thinking much of its consequences upon me as such.
And then I frantically knocked at the wrong doors, took the wrong turns,
Hoping to salvage myself from that hurt.

My purgation began when I fearlessly immersed myself,
To comprehend the myriad hues of life.
And soon I realized that all those above-mentioned events were,
A part of the complex syllabus of life.
As that realization dawned upon me,
I then patiently awaited the arrival of the blazing rays of truth.
Soon it arrived piercingly all myths,
Nullifying all lies uncouth.
Those illusions could no longer now trespass there at my heart,
As by now, I was forged as a true survivor who could totally knock them out.
I again began to live my life,
But this time brewing hope and happiness,
In this age-old saga of struggle and strife.
