Finn held his wings folded in place as his fingers worked the ground. He glanced at Chepi’s door and grinned. The sunrise would end winter and usher in the magic of spring. Finn held his hands over the freshly worked ground, and he felt a familiar surge of power as the first rays of light claimed the day.
He heard footsteps approach the door, so he hid behind a nearby mushroom. As Chepi stepped outside, sprouts rose from the ground and flowers opened before her. Chepi’s smile made Finn’s heart fill with warmth. He whispered, “Someday, you’ll love me too.”
