The World is Broken
written by: Lauren Scott
The world is broken,
we are aware,
but being alive
on this crisp
autumn morning,
what a blessing
to behold
and he says,
“The good news
for today is
I love you,
Your heart,
Your mind,
Your soul.”
The world may be broken,
but I am not.

Lauren Scott has authored two collections of poetry: New Day, New Dreams (2013) and Finding a Balance (2015). Her memoir, More than Coffee: Memories in Verse and Prose, was published in 2021. In 2022, she contributed four poems to the anthology: Poetry Treasures 2: Relationships. She is currently working on her fourth book, a larger collection of poetry to be released this spring, as well as a compilation of fiction short stories. She enjoys small-town living in Northern California with her husband of thirty-four years and their chocolate lab; they have two grown children. Her inspiration for writing is derived from her love of nature, family, and finding joy in the smallest of things. Recent backpacking trips with her husband along the California coast and Sierra Nevada mountains have stirred up thoughts to pen about love, friendship, facing challenges with verve, and the boundless possibilities waiting on the horizon.
