All left behind
written by: William T Fearby
she sits alone in a world of her own
watching the clock on her new iPhone
seconds last minutes and minutes last days
trying to cope in her own special ways
memories memories are all left behind
memories memories she struggles to find
she picks up a photo from her bedside
and looks at the picture that she tried to hide
she tries not to cry as the tears fill her eyes
living the memories tainted with lies
memories memories are all left behind
memories memories she struggles to find
letters and photos are strewn on the floor
reminders of everything she had before
a life that she struggles to leave behind
lost in the thoughts she struggles hard to find
memories memories are all left behind
memories memories she struggles to find
so many questions go round in her head
trying to make sense of all that you said
sitting alone with tear stained eyes
trying to sort the truth from the lies
memories memories are all left behind
memories memories she struggles to find
every time she thinks she’s starting to cope
fear creeps inside her destroying all hope
will she ever get the strength to go on
or will she wake up and realize you have gone
memories memories are all left behind
memories memories she struggles to find
she opens the pill bottle she hid in a draw
pours out the whisky and locks her bedroom door
it doesn’t take long for the pills to start
easing the pain of her badly broken heart
she lies in her safe haven as her life ebbs away
thinking what went wrong not knowing what to say
she falls deeper and deeper down the abyss
the end of a sweet life blown away like a kiss
memories memories are all left behind
memories memories she never will find
