Am I Dreaming?

written by: The Quiet Quill

Will I wake with a startle in the knowledge that you exist only in my dreams?
Will I turn to hold you, to tell you I am so in love with you, that I will never let you go, that it is you who I have been waiting for, only to find a pillow on an empty bed?
Will I smile, thinking of your soothing kisses, of your arms that wrap me up into my safe place, of your lips so lush-lasting that speak beautiful words and make soulful promises of love, of the magic in your eyes, so trusting, so warm and full of love, only to open mine and see no-one?
I stir, I smile, I stop.
I prepare for the truth to shake me awake.
I open my eyes...
...and there you are.
Looking at me and smiling that smile, you whisper,
"Good morning You, you are my dream come true".
He pulls me close and we both know, the days for dreaming are done.
We are Real. We are Love. We are Us.
