Coloma Reunion

Humid amid
my thoughts and say
On car swept pine and dune highway
A taste tart red and blue berry
A midweek July day
Where summer turned
your pale midwest
Your apple flesh into its best
On unnamed pond
by oars I’d rest
In languid drift
And listen in the radiance
To water stir, obscure, sunlit deep
The banner flies
Distracted by
What I couldn’t see.
I’d think about our past days
The oak rings, cold stream and willow sway
Your absence here
When under shade
To dream half awake
