Ghost Writer
written by: Ernest Federspiel
Questions arise in the middle of the night
To answer them correctly I need insight
The best course of action that I can see
Is to find a ghost writer to do it for me
So I search the cobwebs in depths of despair
Knowing that in my brain he awaits somewhere
Soon the words float across my screen of vision
The altered ghost writer is working on my mission
The answers I seek has me feeling more up tighter
Than Wily E. Coyote with a short fuse and lighter
What I find the most confusing to understand
Is why they can’t tell if they are are woman or man
A pair of witches and a policeman stirring the pot
Down off fourth avenue in an empty parking lot
The Door’s music floats across the midnight air
The aroma of anxiety is getting strong over there
A large crowd is growing, straining to see the action
The policeman is enjoying himself with untold passion
A cackle is heard followed by a shout from a Latin curse
And Wily E. Coyote goes by in a dynamite themed hearse
Two witches and a policeman are in a downtown dance
Another Saturday night fight ending in a cosmic romance
Handcuffs teasingly come out and slip onto a pair of wrists
The crowd watching breaks out and starts doing the twist
Reinforcements start to arrive down off Fourth avenue
A Warlock steps up with a cauldron of French toad stew
A midnight version of the Policeman’s Ball in full effect
“Hey Ghost Writer, you ain’t done yet!!!”
