Haunted

I am haunted by a reflection
Of a shape not yet my own
As I long to find a moment’s truth
In a time still left unknown
I look for answers within the light
That show me what to be
Yet find the darkness of the night
In the shadows I cannot see
My world is not what it seems
As I fight against my inner war
I’m an enemy to my prior self
And a foe to who I’m searching for
Thoughts get lost within my mind
Clouded with feelings of remorse
As I set my path towards certainty
But never seem to stay the course
I see no ending to my ways
Yet continue on my wayward path
In hope that I’ll soon find myself
And take me from my rankled wrath
Dennis Brown lives in the United States, residing in the state of Michigan. He is an educator with a bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature. He also has a master's degree in Educational Leadership. Dennis is married to his wife Melissa and is the proud parent of two children, Meghan and Mason. He is an aspiring writer with a focus on poetry. Dennis has collaborated with artists and poets alike. Dennis has been recognized for his writing worldwide. He has received numerous accolades and has produced both commissioned and published work.
