The desire to go back grows
Each time her ears pound with waves and thunder
The scent of seaweed takes her nose
Her eyes scan the ocean, and she wonders

“Did I make the right choice?
Trading in my fins for feet
Giving up my tail for a voice
Giving up my scales for a seat

Saying goodbye to my father and sisters
Waving farewell to my friends
Throwing it all away for an arrogant mister
Never to breathe underwater again”

She wishes she could get off the sand and the stone
She wishes she could get back into the water and go…HOME
