My Best Chapter Yet

I.
As I reflect upon the Final Third, a world of possibilities awaits an eager me.
With days to go before the Final Third begins, the First and Second are recalled with fond reverie.
The First Third went quickly. In a flash – growing and learning the ropes of the path.
Tentatively, slowly, observing the pack.
I walked, then I ran, then stumbled and fell.
As the young tend to do, I bounced back again.
To do it all over, again, and again.
Practice makes perfect, so I practice some more.
Seeking perfection, believing I could.
II.
The second and middle stage of my life, I cared for my family, and for all that I love.
Providing a loving and comfortable home.
Nurturing minds, soothing their brows.
Calming their fears, healing their wounds.
Applauding their benchmarks, successes, and wins.
I gave all I had, all I knew, and I could.
My days and my nights, my heart and my soul.
I made some mistakes, some would say, many more.
I cried with them, laughed with them, cheered for each one.
I tried to be fair, I gave it my all.
I loved them, I love them, and will till the end.
III.
The third, and the final, will be mine to unfold.
I will savor each minute, each hour, each day.
And devour every season, from Winter to Fall.
I will live for myself, as never before.
Loving every decision – unabashedly so.
I will reach for the stars and touch every one.
Igniting the fire that lives deep within.
Burning the candle at both ends you see.
For my lust for life ends at the end of the third.

The First, Second, and Thirds are the three stages of my life.
The Third, is the best chapter yet.
I write because I am:
Driven to distraction by the inequities of the society in which we live.
Motivated by cruelty, abuse, ignorance and indifference.
My intention: To poke, prod and provoke!
