Precipice

Precipice

written by: K.H.

Heavenly hellfire runs through my blood
While starfire burns in my soul
And the Devil cried out with hell’s tender grace
Beckoning me back to his abode
But I crave the peace of Summerland
Instead of the falling brimstone
And gently declined his aching request
To walk among the meadow
For I could never live one day
Without your hand in mine
And the morphine drip I have been put on
Has been wearing off in time
A tolerance to the Devil I built
As your heart departed mine
And behind the facade and clamored veils
Stood the test of time
Before you would leave me for good
For another’s soul did sing
A siren song of eloquent notes
That overpowered a ring
But you broke the haze just in time
And quietly returned back home
But an angel’s lips you did desire
To an angel you happened to roam
But alas you returned with fear in your eyes
And promised me once more
It would be the last time
And the Devil stood upon the precipice
Where my heart waited to plunge
How can lying eyes and a devil’s heart
Entice me not to run
