Second Wind

Second Wind

written by: Flash

It can truly be a struggle
To continue down this road
Often before you know it
You’ve picked up quite a load
I’ve lived a life of service
Filling other people’s needs
I didn’t always know it
As I danced around misdeeds
We don’t always make the choice
To lend a helping hand
Before we even realize
We’re just doing what we can
I’ve done my very best
To try and give folks what they’re due
Mistakes I’ve made a plenty
That’s just something we all do
Sometimes I get so tired
And it’s often hard to see
Just how much I’ll have to do
Until there’s time for me
I’ve loved and lost, and loved and lost,
And loved and lost again.
I never should have given them another heart to bend.
I can’t say my heart’s broken
I found Love along the way
These trials and tribulations
Make me who I am today
And then once more I realize
How rich a life is mine
As I gaze into my loved ones’ eyes
That sparkle as they shine.
And so I carry on
Because we are that which we seek
Caretakers of all that lives
Defenders of the weak
So hear the voices on the wind
Talk to Father sky
Strive to be a hollow bone
No reason to ask why
And though I’m getting tired
I can’t help but be aware
I may be growing old
But I have so much more to share
