The Breeze is Up!

The Breeze is Up!

written by: Ed Sams

The breeze is up! The weather’s in the air
Not in the sky as in foul days or fair
Or in the earth as in dog days and drought
But somewhere in between and all about
Are little signs that to the world declare,
The breeze is up!

The breeze is up! There’s mischief in the air
This shifting climate breeds it. Here and there
Are pranks by Puck and Pierrot no doubt.

The breeze is up, it musses ladies’ hair
It steals boys’ kites and whispers, “Do we dare?”
In young love’s ear and draws the children out
To dance with blowing sheets, it seems to flout
The sad and sullen ones who do not care
The breeze is up!
