Busy

Busy

written by: Becca Lotus

Wearing busyness as a badge of honor
The masses proclaiming delight
in the micromanagement of time

Look how important we are
every minute allocated

I turn my gaze away from their frantic pace
resting my eyes upon the trees before me

What took hundreds of years of
slow, steadfast growth

Magnificent network of roots
Branches and leaves spanning the sky

Overshadowing society’s unstable markers of success
Unhurriedly, quietly triumphing
