Christmas Sweater

Christmas Sweater

written by: Clive Grewcock

There are few things in life
That make me feel better
Than the one time of year
I wear my thick Christmas sweater.

It makes me feel hot,
Sticky and sweaty.
That odorous mix
Of acrylic and wool,
There’s nothing about it
That makes me seem cool.

I wear it with pride.
Bright, jingly and stinkin’,
People look and imagine
“What were you thinkin’?”

I don’t care for your sarcasm,
Or your sniggering comments.
You can keep it inside,
Keep it all shtum.
I’ll wear it with pride,
Hand knit by my mum.
