Thunder
written by: Sheri M. Stewart
I feel the thunder…
it reverberates through the sky
the vibrations rumble up from the ground
through my shaking body.
I smell the rain…
traveling along the wind
the smell of soil and earth
tantalizing my nostrils.
I hear the rustling leaves…
as gusts play through branches
motions like passionate lovers
hastily disrobing in eagerness.
I see the lightning…
streaking across sky
momentary silhouette of motion
before darkness closes again.
I taste the wild excitement…
the tangy thrill
oh, sweet anticipation
ambrosial upon the tongue.
I feel the thunder…
as the rain claims me
the winds howl my name
as I ride the storm.
